The robot has been developed in close cooperation with the local fire department and Norwegian Tunnel Safety Cluster. The operation time is 3 hours and can have a unlimited reach when using 4G or preinstalled communication infrastructure. The dimensions are 500 x 450 x 250 mm and it weigh 10 kg, and the top speed is 45 km/h!
The robot carry a full HD low-light camera and a thermal camera, and can operate in temperatures from -10 to 125 °C.
The product have had a lot of attention so far and is now being evaluated by several fire departments in Norway.
KVS Technologies also develops a more advanced robot. The new robot shall be able to contribute to extinguish a vehicle fire, before the fire department reach the tunnel. The new robot is supposed to be stationed in the tunnel.
Exciting and innovative use of robot technology, and in this case to contribute in rescue and fire fighting in a hazardous environment like a road tunnel. I have meet the staff at KVS technologies several times, and I find it inspiring to see such innovative minds in action.
