Record number of participants on the STUVA conference

The STUVA conference had over 1,900 participants registered before the event, and over 200 exhibiting companies at the STUVA Expo. In total, more than 3,500 participants, stand personnel and Expo visitors where present on the STUVA Conference this year. I'm impressed of how well organised the event is, and also the quality of the lectures.

On the STUVA Expo, businesses presented products and know-how on a exhibition area of more than 3,000 m². The conference was divided into two parallel sessions, tunnelling and tunnel operations.

Mayor international projects and different technology topics was presented during the tunnelling sessions. Road tunnel safety, maintenance and saving energy in road tunnels and road tunnel ventilation was a part of the tunnel operation topics the first day. Tunnel planning and rehabilitation, tunnel doors, transport tunnels and geothermics, and IT security was the road tunnel operation topics the second day. The IT security session discussed digital video technology for monitoring road tunnels, and enhancing cyber security of tunnel control centres. New interesting topics for the professionals in the industry.

All in all, a well organised conference with a lot of opportunities for learning and networking. A highlight of the STUVA Conference is certainly the festive evening, and the STUVA organisation says:

"because a well-developed network is one of the most important success factors in the profession and thrives on an unstressed exchange of thoughts and experience among colleagues".
