Improved tunnel ventilation simulation software

Improved tunnel ventilation simulation software
The IDA Tunnel, software from EQUA Simulation AB, allows the engineer to simulate road and rail tunnel design projects, including full range of ventilation and fire design tasks. The software delivers now improved algorithms that increase robustness and speed to the simulations so that computed results can be animated in the context of a full 3D representation of the tunnel network.

The application handles air flows in road tunnels and related problem of pollution concentration due to emission from vehicles. The application handles both longitudinally and transversally ventilated tunnels. The simulations include air pressure and temperatures, flow rates and pollution concentrations and can be used for realistic studies of phenomena associated with real traffic such as congestion, bi-directional multi-lane traffic, vehicle and descent/ascent in the tunnel.

Tunnel fire scenarios can also be simulated, in which case a user specified heatflux is added in a limited section of the tunnel. Models for smoke production depending on fire type and combustion materials are available as well as fire size limitations according to available oxygen. Temperature profile and smoke radiation is modelled.

According to the developer, there has been made improvements in algorithms that increase  robustness and speed in the simulation. Some new objects and other improvements are added to the application. Now you can also run multiple sessions and work on several sessions in parallel, both during modelling and during simulation.
