Risks with alternative fuels in road tunnels
Gaseous fuels and electric vehicles pose new risks to road tunnels. It's important to know how to deal with these new challenges, says SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden (SP) in this research.
Its a common understanding to aim at using renewable fuels. These include gaseous fuels such as motor gas, methane or hydrogen and electric vehicles. The research project from SP focuses on a literature review to understand the emerging risks with alternative propellants in road tunnels and underground garages. They conclude that gaseous fuels and electric vehicles pose new risks compared to the liquid fuels.
